How the va rating calculator works
VA ratings do not add up. Each rating applies to the portion of you that is still considered whole, so a 50% rating followed by a 30% rating gives 65%, not 80%. The calculator applies each rating in descending order to the remaining efficiency.
The bilateral factor applies when you have ratings affecting both arms or both legs: those ratings are combined first, an extra 10% of that value is added, and the result is then combined with everything else. Mark the relevant ratings as bilateral and the calculator handles it.
