Grow a Garden Weight Calculator

See how a crop’s weight changes its Sheckle value — the weight ratio is squared, so heavy crops are worth far more than they look.

What this calculator does

Weight is the most misjudged part of a Grow a Garden trade. This calculator isolates it: enter a crop’s base value, its base weight, and the actual weight of your crop, and it returns the value from weight alone — before any mutation is applied.

Use it when you’re comparing two of the same crop at different weights, or deciding whether a heavy unmutated crop beats a light mutated one. For the full picture with mutations stacked in, use the main Grow a Garden calculator.

How to use it

  1. Enter the base value from the crop’s shop entry.
  2. Enter the base weight the crop normally drops at.
  3. Enter your crop’s actual weight to see its value.

The formula

value = base value × (your weight ÷ base weight)²

A worked example

The calculator opens with a base value of 18 Sheckles at 0.24 kg. At 0.48 kg — exactly double — the crop is worth 72 Sheckles: the ratio is 2, and 2² = 4. At triple weight the same crop would be 162, because 3² = 9. That squaring is why a visibly heavy crop can quietly out-value a shinier, lighter one. Change any field and every figure updates as you type.

Weight in trades

When someone offers a heavy crop, run its weight through here before judging the trade by mutation alone — then take both crops to the trade calculator for a win/fair/lose verdict. And as always: game numbers move with updates, so confirm base values in the in-game shop. This is an independent, fan-made tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is a heavier crop always worth more?
Of the same crop, yes — value rises with the square of the weight ratio, so even small weight gains compound. Between different crops, base value and mutations matter too.
Where do I find a crop’s base weight?
From the in-game shop entry or the community value lists — the presets in the main calculator carry both numbers for common crops.
Does this include mutations?
No — deliberately. It isolates the weight effect. Use the main Grow a Garden calculator to stack growth and environmental mutations on top of the weight-adjusted value.
