Salary to Hourly Calculator

Convert an hourly wage to yearly salary or a salary to its hourly rate — with weekly and monthly figures and the hours-basis shown.

The conversion everyone googles

“What is $25 an hour annually?” and “what is $60k an hour?” are the same arithmetic run in opposite directions: pay times hours per week times weeks per year. This calculator does both — enter either figure, and it returns the other along with weekly and monthly amounts, always showing the hours basis so the comparison is honest.

How to use it

  1. Enter the amount and say whether it’s per hour or per year.
  2. Adjust hours per week and weeks per year if yours differ from 40 and 52.
  3. Read the conversion — all figures are gross, before tax.

The formula

yearly = hourly × hours/week × weeks/year · the standard basis is 2,080 hours

A worked example

$25 an hour at 40 hours, 52 weeks is $52,000 a year — $1,000 a week, $4,333 a month. Run backwards, a $75,000 salary is about $36 an hour on the same basis. The trap in comparing offers is the basis itself: a salaried role quietly expecting 50-hour weeks pays $28.85/hr at $75k — a fifth less than the 40-hour arithmetic suggests, and worth knowing before you sign.

Common questions

Why 2,080 hours?
40 hours × 52 weeks — the standard full-time year US payroll math assumes. Unpaid time off lowers real hours; the calculator’s weeks field handles that.
Is this before or after tax?
Before — gross pay. Take-home depends on your tax situation; the take-home-pay calculator on this site estimates that side.
How do overtime and holidays fit?
This converts base pay only. Overtime at 1.5× and paid holidays raise the effective annual figure — the overtime calculator handles that arithmetic.
