Weight Loss by Date Calculator

Set a target date and see what daily calorie intake would be needed, and whether that timeline is realistic.

How the weight loss by date calculator works

This calculator works backwards from your goal. It estimates maintenance calories from your body and activity, converts the weight change into an energy total, spreads it over your timeline, and reports the daily intake that implies.

It also checks the pace. Losing more than about a kilogram a week, or dropping intake below a sensible floor, produces a warning rather than a target โ€” extending the timeline is almost always the better fix than cutting harder.

Try it with these numbers

As an example, with a activity level of Lightly active โ€” 1โ€“3 days a week, the calculator returns a daily calorie target of 1,889 kcal. Underneath, Maintenance calories comes out at 2,439 kcal and Resting rate at 1,774 kcal. Change any field and every figure updates as you type.

How to fill it in

  1. Enter your sex, age, height and current weight.
  2. Enter your goal weight and how many weeks you have.
  3. Pick your activity level and read the target with the pace check.

maintenance = BMR ร— activity factor daily deficit = (weight change ร— 7,700) รท (weeks ร— 7) target intake = maintenance โˆ’ daily deficit

FAQ

How fast is safe to lose weight?
Around 0.5 to 1 kg (1โ€“2 lb) a week is the commonly cited range. Faster tends to cost more lean mass and is harder to hold.
Why does the calculator refuse very low targets?
Because intakes below roughly 1,200โ€“1,500 kcal are difficult to meet nutritionally and are not appropriate without medical supervision.
Will progress be linear?
No. Water weight, glycogen and metabolic adaptation all cause plateaus and jumps. Judge progress over weeks, not days. This is general information, not medical advice.
