Enter a distance and finish time to get your pace per mile and per kilometre, plus your average speed.
How running pace is worked out
Pace is the number runners actually train by — minutes per mile or per kilometre rather than an abstract speed. Enter any distance and time and the calculator converts between all three.
Knowing your pace at a given distance also lets you set realistic targets for longer races, since pace slows predictably as distance increases.
Using the calculator
- Enter the distance you ran.
- Enter your finish time.
- Read pace per mile, per kilometre and average speed.
How the number is calculated
pace = time ÷ distance
speed = distance ÷ time
Try it with these numbers
Worked through, a distance of 5 produces a pace of 5:00. Underneath, Pace / km comes out at 5:00 /km and Pace / mile at 8:03 /mi. Change any field and every figure updates as you type.
Questions people ask about this

How much slower should a marathon be than a 10K?
Typically a minute or more per mile slower, though it depends heavily on endurance training volume.
