What this calculator does
Mixed number arithmetic is easiest if you convert to improper fractions first, do the operation, then convert back. This calculator does exactly that and shows the intermediate improper fractions so the method is visible.
The result is always reduced to lowest terms, and the whole and fractional parts are separated the way a textbook answer would present them.
A worked example
As an example, with a first — whole, numerator, denominator of 2, operation of Add, second — whole, numerator, denominator of 1, the calculator returns a result of 4 1/12.
