Enter your lawn size, an area rate and the company’s minimum charge to see the real per-cut price and the full-season total.
The formula
Most services price small lawns by a minimum charge and larger ones by area: per cut = max(sq ft รท 1,000 ร rate, minimum). The season total multiplies that by your number of cuts.
Worked example
An 8,000 sq ft lawn at $7 per 1,000 sq ft with a $40 minimum: the area math says $56, which beats the minimum, so $56 per cut โ about $1,456 over a 26-cut season.
Reading real quotes
Typical U.S. mowing rates run $40โ80 per visit for average suburban lawns, with the minimum doing the work below a quarter acre. Gates, steep slopes, trampolines and heavy trimming add labour and show up as surcharges; bagging clippings costs more than mulching. Weekly contracts usually price below one-off cuts because the grass never gets long. Enter the actual rate and minimum from your quotes, and the calculator turns them into a season number you can compare against buying and running your own mower.
