Draw the curve of any function, compare two functions at once, and read off roots and extremes.
How the graph calculator works
Seeing a function is often faster than analysing it. This grapher samples six hundred points across your range, autoscales the vertical axis to fit, and draws the curve with labelled gridlines.
It also does the reading for you: sign changes are refined by bisection to locate roots, and the highest and lowest sampled points give the extremes within the window. Add a second expression to overlay two curves and see where they cross.
Step by step
- Enter a function of x.
- Set the x range you want to see.
- Optionally add a second function to overlay.
The calculation
The default scenario, worked through
The calculator opens with a y = f of sin(x) + 0.5x. On those figures the graph is y = sin(x)+0.5·x. Underneath, Range of y comes out at -6.066 to 6.066 and Minimum in range at y = -5.0548 at x = -8.367. Change any field and every figure updates as you type.
